Prediabetes is the stage where your sugar levels are high but not high enough to be declared as diabetic but if you don’t make proper lifestyle changes while at this stage you might soon end up diagnosed with diabetes.

Here are certain actions that you can take in this stage in order to prevent prediabetes turn into diabetes

Start losing weight

The first step to preventing prediabetes diabetes is to start losing weight by eating healthy, performing regular physical activities, and keeping track of your weight

Eat healthily

A good rule to follow is to fill half your plate with non-starchy vegetables, one quarter with starchy foods, and the last one quarter with protein-rich food. However always be careful while having carbs like baked goods or pasta, they have the potential to raise your blood sugar


You will lose weight faster if you exercise regularly. No need to perform heavy exercises. A brisk 30-minute walk 6 times a week is enough to start burning those calories. If you don’t prefer walking, you can indulge yourselves with any sports activity like swimming, basketball, badminton, etc

Get proper sleep

Have at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep every day. Your chances of getting diabetes increases if you don’t have enough sleep every day

Don’t smoke

It is time to quit if you smoke. Smoking increases the risk of getting type 2 diabetes by 30% to 40%. And if you get diabetes and still smoke your symptoms will be even harder to control and become worse


Get doctors help and have medications as prescribed by your doctor in order to prevent pre diabetes turn into diabetes
