How to stay positive and calm during this lockdown

Staying indoors for a prolonged period of time can be frustrating, especially if you have kids in your home that are restless and eagerly waiting to go outside as soon as possible.

At the same time being cut off from your family & friends or being worried about your family member who is prone to get infected with COVID-19 can cause frustrating moments in our daily lives.

Staying calm and positive in such tough times can be tough, however here are 6 ways you can help yourselves calm down and stay positive during this pandemic.

1. Eat a healthy diet

Too much stress during these pandemic times can cause you to start binge eating unhealthy food just to get that short boost of dopamine to make you feel good. Therefore it is important to take care of what you are eating on a daily basis.

Make sure that the preparation for the food is simple & doesn’t take too much effort to make & at the same time it should be healthy.

2. Stay active

Exercising helps elevate your mood and stay active. When we exercise our body releases a hormone known as endorphin which creates feelings of pleasure.

3. Connect with your friends and family

While staying indoors can be boring, however, this is the right time to connect with your family members or friends through telephone or chat. Sharing your feelings and thoughts with your close ones will help you relieve some stress and also have a good time.

4. Turn off the news

It is easy for us to constantly keep tracking the number of COVID-19 cases increasing every day as that’s all being showered at us every time we turn on the news on TV or even while reading news articles on the internet.

Too much negative news will make your brain manifest more negative thoughts throughout the day. Minimize your news consumption or at least limit it to just once every day.

5. Identify triggers that make you feel low

Certain things in our daily lives can cause you to feel low. Try to identify and become aware of such things that make you feel low and try to find ways by which you can reduce or manage those triggers.

6. Embrace the opportunity

Make use of the free time available to learn a new skill, cook a new recipe, or start a new challenge to lose weight or upgrade your professional skills.
